Waterville is a fast growing community. The new subdivisions out on the old farmland got their topsoil scraped off during construction, and what's left is builder-grade sod sitting on clay. Most new builds here need the landscape started from scratch, not a touch-up.
Down near Third Street and Farnsworth Road it's the opposite. Older homes, small lots, mature trees, and not much room to get equipment in. We've done enough of these to know how to work tight without tearing up what's already there.

Start From the Dirt, Not the Sod.
New subdivision lots around Waterville were graded down to clay during construction. The sod looks fine for a year, then thins out because there's no topsoil under it. We strip, amend, and rebuild the bed before we plant anything. Skipping this is why most new-build landscapes fail by year two.

Drainage Before Anything Pretty.
Northwest Ohio clay holds water, and the freeze-thaw heaves whatever's sitting in it. Every hardscape we build starts with drainage and a compacted base that goes deeper than the plans call for. It costs a little more up front and saves the whole job from cracking apart in three winters.

Work With the Slope, Not Against It.
River Road and the bluff lots have real grade. We design retaining walls and beds that move water where you want it instead of into your basement. On the tight historic lots near Third Street, we bring the right-sized equipment so we don't tear up the yard getting to the work.

How soon can you get out for an estimate?
Usually within 48 hours. We'll walk the property, talk through what you're after, and send a written number. No charge, no pressure.
Do you handle both residential and commercial?
Both. Weekly maintenance on residential properties, and full-service grounds and snow contracts for commercial lots. Same crew, same standard.
Why does drainage come up in every quote?
Northwest Ohio sits on heavy clay that holds water instead of shedding it. If we don't fix where the water goes first, the beds wash out and the hardscape heaves. It's the cheapest part of the job to get right and the most expensive to redo.
When should I book spring work?
February or March. The spring window here is short and everyone wants the same three weeks in April. Booking early gets you a date; waiting gets you whatever's left.
Do you take snow contracts?
Yes — plowing, salting and walkway clearing for lots and drives. Seasonal contracts get booked through October and we cap how many we take so nobody's waiting until noon.
Can you work on tight lots with limited access?
We do it regularly. Older neighborhoods have small lots, mature trees and narrow side yards. We bring right-sized equipment so we're not tearing up the yard just to get to the work.
